L’implantation initiale de cette nouvelle cimenterie était une intégration en profondeur dans la chaine montagneuse d’où elle est sensée extraire son calcaire. Cette implantation, par ailleurs très ajustée et sans espoir de développement, aurait porté un grave préjudice à un village d’agriculteurs. Outre l’empiètement de l’installation industrielle sur des terres exploitées, on pouvait redouter le va-et-vient des camions venant décharger les matières premières et charger le ciment. Décision fut prise, et je fus consulté, pour construire l’usine à distance sur une plateforme permettant sa bonne implantation et laissant un potentiel de développement dans le futur. Le calcaire venant de la montagne est maintenant acheminé par un convoyeur qui préserve pleinement le cadre de vie et l’activité des villageois.

The original plan for the new cement plant was to integrate it deep into the mountain range from which it would extract its limestone. This highly-fitting site, with no hope of further development, would have caused serious damage to a farming village. In addition to the encroachment of the industrial plant on cultivated land, the comings and goings of lorries unloading raw materials and loading cement were a major concern. The decision was taken, and I was consulted, to build the plant remotely on a platform that would allow it to be set up properly and leave potential for future development. The limestone from the mountains is now transported by a conveyor belt that fully preserves the living environment and activity of the villagers.
