La nouvelle cimenterie de Tétouan, implantée dans les montagnes du Riff au Nord du Maroc, est sans aucun doute un de mes projets industriels les plus aboutis. Cette toute nouvelle usine (Greenfield) du plus grand opérateur français et mondial de l’époque m’a permis de mettre à profit dix-huit ans d’expériences industrielles, de rencontres, d’échanges avec des donneurs d’ordre hautement qualifiés. Concevoir une Greenfield, c’est le moment ou jamais de faire performant et efficace sans avoir à s’accommoder de schémas anciens et souvent contraignants. Pour autant, quoi de mieux que la pratique des usines vieillissantes pour comprendre les problèmes rencontrés au fil du temps dans la gestion de l’environnement, des espaces, du bâti et des flux ? A s’être beaucoup frotté à l’ancien, le chirurgien plastique pour usines en détresse que j’étais devenu se sentait au taquet pour concevoir une jolie jeune fille plutôt qu’une vieille dame qu’il faudrait lifter dès sa naissance.

The new Tétouan cement plant, located in the Riff mountains in northern Morocco, is without doubt one of my most successful industrial projects. This brand-new plant (Greenfield) for the largest French and world operator at the time enabled me to put to good use eighteen years of industrial experience, meetings and exchanges with highly qualified principals. Designing a Greenfield, it’s now or never to be efficient and effective, without having to put up with old and often restrictive schemes. And yet, what better way to understand the problems encountered over time in the management of the environment, spaces, buildings and flows than by working with aging plants? Having rubbed shoulders with the old, the plastic surgeon for plant in distress that I had become felt he had to design a pretty young girl rather than an old lady who would have to be lifted from birth.
