Cement plant: Visual impact enhancement project / Assistance with good communication with the environment

Ceinturée de hauts murs, surélevés depuis le printemps arabe, l’usine est au cœur de quartiers résidentiels, à commencer par la cité ouvrière en limite sud de l’usine. Dans un contexte hostile du fait de l’agressivité des riverains, il fallait à la fois travailler sur l’impact visuel des installations à distance, et sur la zone de conflit potentiel qu’était la limite périphérique de l’usine. Pour une perception à distance, il a été proposé un travail sur la tour de  préchauffage, omniprésente à des kilomètres à la ronde, et sur les broyeurs ciment très exposés depuis le rond-point d’accès au Nord. En limite immédiate, là où l‘usine est longée par une des artères principales de la ville, il a été proposé des incrustations décoratives, et des aires de repos éclairées pour embellir et jalonner un mur d’enceinte imposant et particulièrement rébarbatif.

Surrounded by high walls, raised since the Arab Spring, the cement plant is located at the heart of residential neighborhoods, starting with the workers’ housing on the southern edge of the plant. In a hostile environment due to the aggressiveness of the residents, it was necessary to address both the visual impact of the installations from a distance and the potential conflict zone along the plant’s peripheral boundary. For a distant perception, work was proposed on the preheating tower, visible from miles around, and on the cement mills, which are highly exposed from the northern access roundabout. At the immediate boundary bordering the plant by one of the city’s main roads, decorative inlays and illuminated resting areas were proposed to enhance and mark a particularly imposing and off-putting perimeter wall.
